The Playwork Inclusion Project (PIP) regional inclusive play and childcare
network meetings are now established termly in each of the nine English
local government regions. They offer support to over 250 participants,
including many we have trained and many others interested in inclusion -
whether as policy officers, inclusion officers, development workers or face
to face practitioners. These meetings are run as part of PIP project which is funded by the Department for Education and Skills (DfES). This project was set up to increase the numbers of disabled children in universal play and childcare provision through training, publications, a regional development programme and the National Inclusive Play and Childcare Network. It also aims to embed inclusive thinking in playwork qualifications and strategic policy so that all practitioners come to understand that good quality playwork is inseparable from inclusive playwork.
